Isolation school work

Isolation Schoolwork

Hello fellow bloggers.

Today in isolation was our first school day, after being in isolation for three weeks including the holidays. The way we communicated with our teachers and each other well in isolation was using a website called google chat. We were asked to complete our usual literacy and numeracy work, for literacy we made a timetable that will help me keep track of the times we do schoolwork, the things we needed to include on this were our literacy and numeracy tasks as well as our sessions with the teacher, our blog posts and comments as well as going out for a walk and helping around the house.
For our numeracy work, we had to work out maths equations like how many times you can fit measurements like 35 cm or 19 cm into measurements like 2 meters, we also had to make estimates on how long we thought a meter is by guessing, and then we had to come up with our own items around our house that we could use to add up to two meters. you may also be wondering why we used the measurement of two meters, this is simply because two meters is the distance we must have between each other to be legally able to talk to each other or be near anyone at all, this is because of coronavirus or COVID-19 and the fact that this virus spreads simply and easily which that is the whole reason that we can't go to school at all and why we had to communicate with our teachers and classmates using google chat in the first place.
Anyway here is the work that we have been asked to do (both literacy and numeracy) the top one is literacy and the bottom one is numeracy.

  1. Kia ora Henry!
What a great post. You sound like you are very organised and enjoyed the first Distance School day! It certainly is different isn't it? I like this maths task because I really am starting to doubt that people know how far 2 metres actually is! One example is when I go walking each day. I find some people don't bother trying to keep 2 metres away. Maybe they don't know how far 2 metres is? Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Distance Learning and do lots of posts! I look forward to reading them! Mrs Pascoe
